New Delhi,April 23: The FIR filed in the suicide case of farmer Gajendra Singh states that AAP workers and leaders were seen instigating the farmer to climb the tree and commit suicide while the Delhi Police was trying to save the farmer and had called the fire brigade for help.

The FIR reportedly states that the case was a “clear case of abatement to suicide by AAP workers and leaders,” CNN-IBN reports. The channel further quotes Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi as saying that he will not co-operate with the ‘AAP magisterial probe’. “According to the rule of law, whatever is required we will do. But we cannot get into anything illegal,” Bassi said.

Officials investigating the case have said that AAP workers stopped police officials from sending the victim to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital while insisting that he was a party member and should not be taken in a police van which resulted in considerable delay.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas lashed out at Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement in Lok Sabha that the Delhi Police tried rescuing the farmer but it was those at the rally that were provoking Gajendra Singh.

“The Home Minister is lying to Parliament and the nation. He said that AAP leaders were trying to stop Delhi Police from doing their work. Is this the Delhi Police’s strategy under the Centre’s order to defame the AAP government?” Vishwas said.

“We were constantly appealing to the Delhi Police to help the farmer… You (media channels) have the footage. You can show the truth about what happened,” he added.

The Delhi government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Gajendra Singh.
