Thiruvananthapuram, April 13: Cinesoft, a Kochi-based IT firm is all set to deliver TV channels on multiple platforms like iOS, Android, Windows or Linux over the internet (wi-fi, 3G, 4G) on its entertainment e-commerce platform, said a company official.
Addressing the media here, Cinesoft managing director Anil Nair on Monday said to start with they would provide 30 TV channels, mostly from south India, to its viewers using the over-the-top technology (OTT) and in an year’s time it would cross 100 channels.
“We had entered into an agreement with all leading TV channels in Kerala to experiment on our platform and it has been successful. We expect that in a month’s time it would be ready, as the only part left is the agreement signing as each of these TV channels will get a revenue when viewers choose their channels,” said Nair.
It can be viewed in multiple devices like mobile, tablet, PC, desktop, Smart TV, gaming console, streaming boxes among others.
“Ours is the perfect platform for content companies and media holdings looking for means to maximize their profits from the content they own,” said Nair, who started the company in 2009.
“We have a library of over 2,000 Malayalam films, out of which 400 have already been loaded and anyone can watch it by downloading their app that is available on the play store free of cost. Starting next month, we will be able to provide new Malayalam film releases also. The revenue model is exciting for the copyright holders of the new releases as they will get money each time their film is viewed,” added Nair.
