Mumbai,Mar 10: They say irony is that one dish that truly carries the flavours sweet and sour. And Mumbai’s Kerala eatery Sneha Restaurant owners are now faced with a situation where they don’t know if they should laugh or cry.
The Mahim-based eatery’s Kerala-style Beef Fry has won the Tastiest Beef in Asiaaward by Chowzster, a global network of food enthusiasts in a ceremony held in Singapore, just days after beef was banned in Maharashtra, reports Mumbai Mirror.
While the eatery owners and staff were informed about the award on the weekend,Mumbai Mirror reported that they staff was seen wondering whether things would ever return to “normal”.
“Both Hindus and Muslims from all over the city would frequent our restaurant for our beef cooked in the traditional Kerala style,” K Prabhakar, an employee from Sneha Restaurant, told Mumbai Mirror. “We used to sell nearly 30 kg of Beef Fry every day,” he added.
“Our suppliers tell us they will start supplying cara-beef (water buffalo meat) after a week or two, but prices will go up by at least two to three times. Even chicken and mutton prices are expected to rise,” Prabhakar told Mumbai Mirror.
