An earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale hit Nepal, with several buildings being severely damaged.
Residents were seen rushing out of their homes with several being rushed to hospitals in Nepal.
Roads were caved in and several vehicles were damaged. The Nepal airport has been shut and flights are being diverted to India.
In India, tremors were felt across the north and east with reports coming in from West Bengal, Assam, Jaipur, Ranchi, and Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to the President of Nepal and has assured him of all help. Modi has also convened an emergency meeting this afternoon.
