Hyderabad: A local court has passed an interim injunction order restraining actress Shruti Hassan from accepting any assignment to act in a feature film before completion of shooting of an untitled movie, produced by Picture House Media Ltd, till April 8.
The XXV Additional Chief Judge at City Civil Court passed the order on a petition filed by Picture House Media Ltd on March 25.
The court, after hearing the petitioner, ordered that an interim injunction is awarded restraining the actress from accepting any other assignment to act in a feature film before completing the shooting for the film being produced by the petitioner (Picture House Media Ltd) and honouring all her obligations as set out in the artist’s agreement till April 8.
A criminal court at Nampally Court Complex here, in the meanwhile, has referred another petition filed by Picture House Media Ltd, seeking criminal proceedings against the actress, to Banjara Hills Police with a direction to investigate the matter and file a status report, police said today.
“We have received the court-referred petition. An FIR will be issued soon in the matter and after investigation, a status report will also be filed in the court,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Banjara Hills Division) D Uday Kumar Reddy said.
A statement from Picture House Media Ltd said “Shruti Hassan, after entering into a contractual agreement to be the female lead in a bilingual starring Nagarjuna and Karthi directed by Vamsi Paidipalli, has reneged on her contractual obligations. She has arbitrarily pulled out of the project citing dates clash as a flimsy excuse.”
