Tokyo,April 20: A CARTOON character has inspired hundreds of women to try a bizarre cleavage boosting trick – using a ribbon.
Hoards of Japanese women are tying ribbons below their breasts and around their arms in a bid to increase their busts.
Not satisfied with a good old padded bra woman have taken to copying anime character Hestia who wears a ribbon around her ample chest and arms as the star of series Is It Wrong To Pick Girls Up In A Dungeon.
The theory is that by tying a length of ribbon under the breasts and arms they will be lifted every time a woman raises her arms.
In Japan the craze has been a major hit with ‘cosplayers’ – anime fans who dress as their favourite fictional characters.
The first episode of the show was broadcast last week, sparking a plethora of fans showing off their attempts at the look on Twitter.
Some adventurous women have claimed the ribbon is the key to a bustier look while others insisted the trick was a flop.
One posted on Twitter: “Would a ribbon like Hestia’s actually give me any uplift? Result: Not in the slightest.
“Concusion: It just makes it hard to move and the ribbon is cutting into my arms.”
One man revealed he had persuaded his wife to try out the Hestia look.
He wrote: “I got my wife to do the Hestia trick for me.”
The unusual character has not only kicked off the bizarre trend but has also spawned collectable items and toys, including a Lego figurine.
