The Jharkhand Government yesterday suspended Deoghar’s Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Civil Surgeon and Regional Deputy Director in the light of the temple stampede where at least 11 people were killed and 20 others injured.
The stampede took place close to a temple of Goddess Durga, where thousands had lined up for a ritual. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident and instructed Chief Minister Raghuwar Das over telephone to speed up the relief measures.
According to reports, the order to this effect was issued by Home Secretary N.N. Pandey.
