Chennai,April 17: Mani Ratnam’s urban romance O Kadhal Kanmani has released in theatres today. Sources say that the film has been made on the lines of Ratnam’s previous romances, particularly Alai Payuthey.
Our correspondent Subramanian Harikumar is watching OK Kanmani right now and the film’s interval just began. Here is what he thinks of the romantic movie so far, “The film tells a tale of romance brewing between Adi played by Dulquar Salman and Tara played by Nithya Menon. Set in Mumbai, the film tracks the love blossoming between the the two individuals, who don’t believe in marriage. Both the lead characters are career driven, but want to spend time together before they go their separate ways trying to be rich and famous. But there is an underlying tension between the two as they sense that there is something more to their relationship than just a casual affair. Would they realise that they are made for each other or would they part ways?

Performances are top notch by both the lead actors. Dulquer Salmaan portrays his character to perfection as he manages to charm the audience with his boy-next-door antics. Nithya Menon is brilliant as the urban energetic girl and her eyes speak volumes. Mani Ratnam’s direction is worth praising as he takes a thread from his earlier romantic dramas and conjures a love story based on today’s era. AR Rahman’s music is upto his standards as usual. The film is slow in proceedings and might test the patience of people who enjoy commercial flicks. Few scenes are far from convincing but that doesn’t come in the way of enjoying the film. Lets see what happens in the second half…”

Well, OK Kanmani sounds like a promising love-story so far but will it sustain our critic’s interest throughout the second half? Stay tuned for O Kadhal Kanmani’s full review…
