New Delhi, Mar 2: India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Monday reported a sales growth, including exports, of 8.7 percent in February at 118,551 units from 109,104 units sold in the corresponding period of last year.
The company’s domestic sales increased by 8.2 percent to 107,892 units during the month under review as compared to 99,758 units sold in the corresponding month of 2014.
Maruti Suzuki’s exports during the period under review rose 14 percent 10,659 units at 10,659 units sold overseas from 9,346 units shipped-off during the like period of last year.
Sales in passenger cars segment, which comprises brands like Alto, WagonR, Swift, Ritz, Dzire, Dzire Tour Celerio, SX4 and Ciaz, was higher by 7.2 percent at 90,728 units sold from an off-take of 84,595 units in the corresponding month of 2014.
Sales of utility vehicles like Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga was up by 12.1 percent at 5,863 units from sales of 5,231 units in February 2014.
Sales in van segment that includes brands like Omni and Eeco grew by 13.8 percent at 11,301 units from an off-take of 9,932 units in the corresponding month of 2014.
The company’s scrip at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was up 1.75 percent at Rs.3,681.60 per equity share around 1.20 p.m. from its previous close of Rs.3,618.25.
